Oscar Issac is setting his sights on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After co-starring in the most recent “Star Wars” trilogy, Isaac is in talks to star as Moon Knight (AKA Marc Spector) in the Disney+ series produced by Marvel Studios.
Deadline reports that Isaac is currently in the negotiation phase, but the fact that it’s being reported at all indicates that these negotiations are going well. Marvel Studios is actively casting its leads for its upcoming slate of Disney+ shows, including She-Hulk (Tatiana Maslany) and Ms. Marvel (Iman Velanni). Isaac would be the most high profile actor to join the MCU through Disney+ so far.
“Moon Knight” follows the story of Marc Spector, a mercenary with a set of alter egos. The character forms a connection with the Egyptian moon god Khnoshu and becomes a vigilante. Jeremy Slater (Umbrella Academy) will lead the series development and writing teams.
Isaac is coming off his blockbuster star turns in the “Star Wars” franchise as Poe Dameron and the “X-Men” franchise as Apocalypse. He is also set to star in Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune” adaptation, where he is set to share the screen with an A-list cast including Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, and Jason Mamoa.
Many of 2020’s delayed blockbusters now have their own streaming service safety nets.
The Walt Disney Company announced several films, including the hotly anticipated Marvel Studios flick Black Widow, will officially make the move to Disney Plus Premier Access.
Marvel Studios is not slowing down its expansion into TV.
