Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins is set to make her debut in a galaxy far, far away. Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy announced during Disney’s Investor Day presentation that Jenkins will direct the next film in the Star Wars universe titled Rogue Squadron.
Jenkins will be the first woman to direct a Star Wars feature film. Women have directed in the Star Wars universe before. Deborah Chow and Bryce Dallas Howard have both directed a couple episodes of The Mandalorian on Disney+.
Jenkins joins the Star Wars universe with Oscar winning filmmaker Taika Waititi, each developing their own film. Jenkins’ film is set to debut on Christmas Day 2023.
